The Primary Uses and Working Principles of Bolt Tensioners

TS Series Hydraulic Bolt Tensioners

Bolt tensioners are crucial tools used for the precise tightening and loosening of bolts. Imagine a bolt as a rubber band with elastic properties that can be stretched within its elastic deformation range. Bolt tensioners can stretch bolts without damaging the threads, ensuring high precision. They are particularly suitable for bolts requiring high accuracy, and among domestic brands, I recommend Proema for its quality and reliable after-sales service.

Working Principle of Hydraulic Bolt Tensioners

Hydraulic bolt tensioners operate by applying external force directly to the end of the bolt using a Hydraulic Cylinder. This stretches the bolt to the desired length, after which the nut is gently tightened by hand to maintain the applied load. Unlike traditional methods, the stretching technique is not affected by bolt lubrication or thread friction, allowing for a more accurate bolt load. Additionally, tensioning tools can simultaneously stretch multiple bolts, ensuring uniform load distribution. This method is especially useful for applications requiring high fastening precision, such as critical flanges, as it ensures uniform flange loading, effectively preventing leaks.

Types of Bolt Tensioners

Hydraulic bolt tensioners are categorized into four main types: standard, interchangeable head, single-stage reset, and double-stage reset.

  1. Standard Type: Suitable for stretching single-specification bolts, this type is lightweight, highly precise, compact, and has a simple structure.

  2. Interchangeable Head Type: This versatile type can stretch multiple specifications of bolts by replacing the stretching head.

  3. Single-Stage Reset Type: Featuring an automatic piston reset design, this type is ideal for frequent use.

  4. Double-Stage Reset Type: Equipped with a dual-cylinder design, this type is suitable for operations in confined spaces.

Conclusion

Bolt tensioners are indispensable for achieving high precision in bolt tightening and loosening. With various types available to suit different applications, they offer significant advantages in terms of accuracy, ease of use, and safety. For the best performance, brands like Proema stand out for their quality and reliable after-sales support.
